Seven days in Pakistan isn’t enough to cover the whole country. Any itinerary claiming otherwise is setting you up for a rushed, exhausting trip. What seven days genuinely allows is Islamabad plus a proper, unhurried visit to Hunza, including Khunjerab Pass. If you want Skardu too, that combination realistically needs 10 days or more, and we’ll flag that alternative separately.<\/p>\n

7 days in Pakistan itinerary: day-by-day breakdown<\/h2>\n

Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad.<\/strong> Overall, plan for a morning arrival if your flight allows it. The airport sits roughly 45 minutes from central Islamabad, longer during rush hour. Book a hotel in the F-6 or F-7 sectors, both close to restaurants and markets. Spend the afternoon settling in and adjusting before the trip’s more demanding days ahead.<\/p>\n

Day 2: Fly to Gilgit, transfer to Hunza.<\/strong> Also, book the earliest available flight, since mountain weather more often affects afternoon departures. The flight itself is a highlight, with views of Nanga Parbat on a clear day. From Gilgit, it’s roughly a 2 to 2.5 hour drive to Karimabad<\/a>. Keep a road backup in mind, since mountain flights depend on weather and occasionally get delayed or cancelled.<\/p>\n

Day 3: Central Hunza.<\/strong> So, spend the day exploring Baltit Fort and the Karimabad bazaar. Then head to Eagle’s Nest for sunset, one of the valley’s most photographed viewpoints. This is also a natural day to visit Altit Fort if your pace allows.<\/p>\n

Day 4: Attabad Lake and Passu.<\/strong> Head north to Attabad Lake for boating in the calmer morning water. Then continue to Passu for views of the Passu Cones. Crossing the Hussaini Suspension Bridge is optional and not for the faint-hearted. It’s a genuine highlight, though, for travelers comfortable with it.<\/p>\n

Day 5: Khunjerab Pass.<\/strong> A full-day trip to the world’s highest paved border crossing, weather and season permitting. This road typically stays open from May through October. Check current conditions before committing to this day, since closures do happen outside that window.<\/p>\n

Day 6: Return to Islamabad.<\/strong> Fly back from Gilgit in the morning. Use the afternoon for Faisal Mosque if you missed it on day one. Shopping at Centaurus Mall or Jinnah Super Market is another good option.<\/p>\n

Day 7: Departure.<\/strong> Overall, check out by noon for most flights. For international departures, get to the airport at least 3 hours ahead, since security can take longer than expected.<\/p>\n

Everything above assumes flying between Islamabad and Gilgit. Be honest with yourself about the math before choosing the road instead. Driving both directions genuinely does not fit inside 7 days if you also want real time in Hunza.<\/p>\n
