Manshi Top is the trek to bring first-timers and families on. Easy to moderate, no technical gear required, and reached through Sharan Forest’s dense pine trails rather than a punishing climb.

Two summits, not one
Manshi Top actually has two named points along the ridge, Manshi 1 and Manshi 2, roughly 50 to 60 minutes apart. Manshi 1 sits around 2,530 meters, with Manshi 2 a further climb to roughly 2,770 meters. Most day-trippers stop at Manshi 1; reaching Manshi 2 adds real time and effort for a further payoff.
Getting there via Sharan Forest
The trailhead starts at Sharan Camping Pods, roughly 90 minutes by jeep from Paras on the Kaghan Road. Sharan itself is a quiet forest retreat, less crowded than nearby Shogran. Pine woods, a river, and government-installed camping pods define the place, though the pods need booking ahead. The hike to Manshi Top winds through dense pine forest along a series of switchbacks. It opens gradually into meadows, with views over the Kaghan Valley and the Kunhar River below.
Sharan Waterfall makes a natural add-on, a roughly 30 to 45 minute downhill walk from the camping pods. The trail is muddy and unpaved, worth a local guide on a first visit.
Manshi Top travel guide: practical tips
- Hire a local guide, especially on your first visit. Wildlife including leopards and black bears has been reported in the area, and route-finding benefits from local knowledge.
- Book camping pods in advance. Government-installed pods at Sharan need reservations, and hotel options nearby are limited with very basic food choices.
- Bring your own supplies. There are no restaurants near the trailhead, so pack enough food and water for the day.
- Skip winter entirely. Snow depths above Sharan can exceed 6 feet, making the trek genuinely impassable outside the May-to-September window.
